While the world was going crazy about the picture-perfect dress and flower arrangements of the Royal Wedding, many forgot to notice the perfect set of chops on Kate Middleton.

Indian Community Put A Curse on Lisa Blue Swimwear at Sydney Fashion Week 2011

A dark blue day for Lisa Blue Swimwear at Rosemount Australia Fashion Week 2011 as the Indian Hindu community curse Lisa Blue for Hindu print on one piece swimsuit.  One piece swimsuit depicted the Hindu goddess, Lakshmy Devi. Her collection depicted a number of bikinis and one piece swimsuits containing a number of Hindu goddess prints.

Lisa unapparent of the insult of her latest collection, sparks rage within the Hindu community. Lisa Blues last years collection depicted a different god, Aprodite, the god of love!. Unfortunently this year has been the anti christ of swimwear!

Terri Donna Spring/Summer 2010/2011 Collection – Terry Winyard – Rosemount Australian Fashion Week 2011

Brisbane designer Terri Winyard made waves at the Swim Resort Group Show at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week today with her fashion label Terri Donna.
Terri’s renowned designs and unique runway styling concepts secured her to be the finale label for the show, wowing crowds by closing with vibrant swimwear, handmade beach accessories and even a fluffy dog with pink paws.
The 24 year-old’s swimwear label was established two years ago and has since grown rapidly, participating in Mercedes-Benz Brisbane Fashion Festival and stocking throughout Australia.
This latest collection features both unique and classic styles of bikinis, one-pieces and beach cover-ups, inspired by the vibrant colours of Australia’s coastlines.
“I am so happy to have showcased at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, it was a fantastic opportunity for my label,” said Terri.
“It was took a lot of work to coordinate but I was very pleased with how my show turned out and the response I got from the audience.”
Terri Donna showcased alongside other major Australian swim and resort brands including Foxton Danger and Karen Neilson Collection.
“Queensland summers have been such a huge part of my life, it was really important for me to produce a RAFW show to reflect this, while also showcasing a collection that would make women of all ages look and feel confident and glamorous.”

Brisbane designer Emma McLean wowed audiences today at the Swim Resort Group Show at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week with her luxury resort wear label Foxton Danger.
Foxton Danger’s flowing kaftans and vibrant patterns secured the opening spot in the coveted group show, impressing audiences with handmade headpieces and no end of colour.
“I wanted to convey the luxury resort lifestyle and I believe my signature bright colours and hand painted silk fabrics are a big part of that,” said Emma.
“I am so proud to have shown at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week and I am very happy with how my show went,” she said.
“It was an amazing opportunity for my label to be in front of some of the country’s biggest fashion buyers and media and will hopefully lead to some great things for Foxton Danger in the near future.”
The twenty-seven year old’s fashion label has already seen a slew of success since being established two years ago, participating in Mercedes-Benz Brisbane Fashion Festival, Sydney Fashion Weekender, FashionTV Designer Awards and most recently being chosen as one of only fifteen exclusive Australian fashion brands to be part of the G’Day USA Australia Week tradeshow in New York earlier this year.

Lisa Blue Spring/Summer 2011/2011 Collection – Swimwear – Rosemount Australian Fashion Week 2011

Dream-like galactic and aboriginal prints glided down the runway for swimwear label Lisa Blue’s first individual show at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week 2011. Designer Lisa Burke presented her strongest swim collection yet, a stunning array of colour, detail and hardware in a range of hot styles.

The stand-alone show is an exciting step for committed eco-warrior and designer Burke, as she continues on her journey to raise awareness for whale and dolphin conservation through brand Lisa Blue. Launched just over two years ago, Lisa Blue has been supporting the Australian Whale Conservation Society, donating 25% of profits from the sale of swimwear and accessories to continuing efforts for the mammal’s protection in Australia.

Encapsulating Lisa’s passion for art, the collection features a number of prints from the mystical ET angel to bold colour with the Bollywood story, studs and metallics in Galactic Warrior, Romance Era art in Divinity and the Indigenous-inspired Pretty Shells story. Australian stylist-extraordinaire Mark Vassallo is the show Creative Director, helping Burke to bring her vision to the runway, Lisa Blue also collaborated with Cloud Nine and St. Tropez for the show.

“It’s all about a pretty, sexy, cool vibe, with plenty of hardware detailing, sequins, cut outs, structured silhouettes juxtaposed with soft textile accents. ” Are the words of Claudia Venti, creator of the COCO LUXE label.

Looking at the Summer 2010 collection, it is easy to see that these words are true.

COCO LUXE is mostly club-wear but unlike other sparkly labels, this brand of dress would look appropriate on every age group. The maxis, playsuits and cocktail dresses in the collection are predominantly black and white. There are a few stand out splashes of colour which are sequined heavily. The boldy coloured pieces all start with sharply cut bodices which flow down to flatter the feminine physique.

The COCO LUXE mission statement says: “Dedicated to the sassy and distinct fashionista whom appreciates a whole lot of luxe and crazy/beautiful moments.” While the label has been worn by Jessica Hart on the pages of glossy fashion mags, it would be wonderfully appropriate in high-class cocktail bars.

NSW’s best surf sports competitors have kicked off the season in extremely tough conditions at the 2010 NSW Endurance Championships, held at Palm Beach on Saturday.

Strong winds and large surf made it a gruelling hit out for the state’s Ironmen and women, some of whom used the longer format races as a warm up for the Coolangatta Gold and the Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain series. 

In a dramatic race end, Tom Atkinson (Queenscliff) found the cold conditions too much with his legs cramping up at the end of the ski race. He and Ali Day both hit the beach at the same time, but Tom collapsed back into the surf and it took him a few goes at getting back up before he stumbled across the line. 

In the Open Ironwoman, KNG series competitors Amy Nurthen (Terrigal) and Tara Coleman (Maroubra) battled it out for gold, with Nurthen just in front. Joanne Baxter (Terrigal) was third. 

Former champion ironwoman Candice Falzon, back from WA and now racing with Bondi, had a great day, entering just about every event and coming 1^st in the Swim and 2^nd in the Ski and Beach run events. Falzon says she loves being back in Sydney among family and friends and was very happy with her results today, as she has not been well recently. 

 “I’m looking forward to a good season and my aim is to stay consistent. It’s great to see NSW surf sports starting to get strong again and I’m hoping to hold out for this season, which is a long season.”

The mission of the Fashion Palette organisation is to put a spotlight on creativity and encourage new blood into the fashion industry.

This mission was accomplished at every parade and party at the 2010 Fashion Palette event. Over two days, brand-new and well-known designers came together to celebrate fashion.

Against the water-side backdrop of Sydney’s Circular Quay, models strutted the latest accessories, swimwear and other wearables. The event did not aim to dictate trends. It’s aim was more to show the mastery of some of Australia’s best designers.

Everything seen on the catwalks and exhibition stands was unique and surprising. Every person who attended left the event convinced that all of Australia’s new fashion talent should be supported to the level of superstar status that many of our acclaimed designers enjoy.

From the outside, the world of fashion can appear glamorous, mysterious and impossible to break into. Now for a second time, Fashion Palette offered everyone the chance to soak up the skills, knowledge of leading fashion influences such as Wayne Cooper, Samantha Wills, Nikita Sernack and with Nicola Finetti, Camilla Franks and Charlie Brown who joined the Fashion Future segment. The Future Segments sets Fashion Palette aside from other fashion weeks, highlighting the importance of supporting new talent.

Internationally acclaimed Australian designer Collette Dinnigan, will show her Printemps Ete 2011 collection ‘Cirque d’ Amour’ (Circus of Love) at the Hotel Meurice during Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday 5th October at 11:30am.

Marking 15 years as the only Australian on the official Chambre Syndicale du prêt-a-porter des couturiers et des createaurs de mode schedule, Dinnigan will show her collection in an intimate salon show.

Collette Dinnigan printemps ete 2011 presents a fresh palette of pastels and crisp whites creating a backdrop to detailed and delicate embellishment, combining the expression of sport and luxe.

Hues of lemon and mint contrast against elaborate lyrical prints arresting the audience and ricocheting a fantasy of spirit. Souvenir prints with pleated contrasting serve to deliver a Collection encapsulating a newfound ease for contrast – soulful vitality.

“The honour of showing in Paris is as much about representing Australia on a global design stage as it is about growing our presence in an international market, I feel incredibly privileged to be acknowledged in a forum of my peers. 2010 also marks further milestones for Collette Dinnigan, in addition to her 15th year showing in Paris it is also her 20th year in business and the 10th year since opening her London store at Chelsea Green.

Sydney siders crammed the Sydney CBD on Thursday night shopping during Vogues “Fashion’s Night Out” on 9th September 2010. With DJ’s pumping music and models filling the windows of Sydney Martin Place, you would of thought that the world recession had finally ended in Sydney in September 2010. Major fashion retailers such as Myers, David Jones, Chanel and Giorgio Armani to name a few open their retail stores with hip live DJ’s and jazz flowing through their stores. 

Dispite the rain, the Martin Place area was filled with lovers of local and international fashion looking for a discount during the Vogues Fashion’s night Out. Most stores offered specials and discounts during the night with enticers like fairy floss or VIP red carpet shop fronts to customers. Sydney Fashion’s Night out was one of 15 international fashions night outs created by Vogue magazine.

WESTFIELD’S flagship Bondi Junction shopping centre was one of the off site venues for the Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival featuring swimwear collections Speedo, Swank and Seafolly.

There were three categories at the Westfield runway: race wear, street wear and swimwear.

Westfield’s John Batistich said the centreprovided a great environment to showcase key styles for the season.

“We hope to inspire our shoppers just as much as they inspire us,” he said.

Brunsdon, who will participate in the race wear show on August 26, described his collection as “fresh, colourful pastels with quite clean lines”.

He said the inclusion of the Bondi venue in the weeklong festival program was “a great thing for locals”.

“It brings clothing that’s in the stores to the runway so they can come in, watch the show and then go shopping straight afterwards,” he said.

Brunsdon said the local scene was “free-spirited, simplified and undone, but at the same time it’s definitely very trend-driven”.

“It might be a little bit too trendy because sometimes Sydney girls look like fashion victims,” he said.

Wanda SLSC recorded a decisive win in the overall pointscore at the NSW Pool Rescue Championships at Woy Woy on the weekend.

Title holder Ocean Beach was eclipsed by the performances of the Wanda competitors, including Jessica Lauricella, Jay Furniss, Nicholas Brooks, Alex Clarke and Danielle McMahon. Ocean Beach slipped to equal fourth position despite wins by Keelan Bridge and the Gasparotto sisters.

Terrigal retained second place again this year with great performances by Lauren Hall, Karlee Nurthern, Rachelle King and Ed Gourley.

Cronulla’s third place was well deserved, thanks to good efforts by Lana Rogers, Kyle Druery, Chris Allum and Aaron Markey.

Bulli managed equal fourth largely due to Ryan O’Grady, Downie Langthorne and Sean White.

Hunter clubs Redhead and Swansea Belmont ended up sixth and eighth respectively. Emily Chaffey, Sjana Earp and Kurtis Kavanagh from Swansea Belmont and Redhead’s Jessica Collins recorded good times in their events.

Far North Coast clubs taking part in pool rescue competition for the first time managed to make it into the top 20. Byron’s Josh Brown and Callum Smith from Cudgen Headland were able to hold their own against more experienced competitors.

“Pool rescue is big on the international watersports stage and more of our home grown surf athletes are getting involved,” explained Manager of Surf Sports, Chris Parker. “It offers athletes more opportunities for national and international team selection, both in pool and surf events.”

The Championships include obstacle swims, manikin carries, line throws, medley relays and simulated emergency response competition. The events are great for honing the surf rescue skills of our top athletes, who are all volunteer surf lifesavers.

Pool rescue skills are not only important for saving lives in the surf but this competition was also great preparation for the upcoming World Surf Life Saving titles in Egypt next month.
